VFX artist talks about experience at MPC Vancouver

  1. MPC is the quintessential example of the problem with VFX.

    Here is a foreign owned company in Vancouver. that hires as few Canadians as it has to.

    they treat Canadian Labour law like dogs a treats a fire hydrant, and artists like 17 century serfs.

    A company where getting paid for your time is novel.

    A pat on the head and smack in mouth, and they send you home with a British smile “you should be happy to work on such cool projects that we have.”

    Well said, angry as hell. I couldn’t have said it better and I am the one who wrote the original email. I wish more peeps spoke out, maybe then things would start changing.

    If you complain that you don’t want to work for free they say, “Well, you have to give something back to us.” the concept of “pay” seems odd to them.
